Authorities Baffled As Skeleton Found In Disused Nursery

The Spanish authorities have been left scratching their heads after a human corpse in almost skeletal state was found at a disused nursery.

The grim find was made at a former nursery school in the town of Figueres, media in Girona Province reported on 23rd March.

The Mossos d’Esquadra – the police force of the Catalonia region – are now investigating the case.

The corpse, which belongs to a man, was in an almost completely skeletal state when it was discovered, meaning it had been lying there for a long time.

An autopsy was performed at the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensics in Girona, which confirmed no signs of criminal activity.

Police are now hoping to identify who the corpse belongs to, as no documentation was found nearby.

Investigators are currently reviewing data on missing persons to see if the find relates to a reported case.

The heavily-decomposed corpse was found on the morning of 17th March by the Guardia Urbana – municipal police force – of Figueres.

It was located in a former nursery school named Ramon Reig, which was in operation from 1969 to 2011.

The building is derelict and located next to fields. It was sealed some time ago to prevent squatting.

Local media reported that it had become a dumpsite for fly-tippers.
