Cliff Walker Plunged 33ft To Her Death In Mallorca
A 75-year-old Irish woman died when she plunged 33 feet to her death in a hiking accident in Mallorca.
The woman had been walking with a group in Escorca, in the north-western part of the island, when she apparently slipped and fell off the cliff edge.
Local media said she had been hiking the Puig Roig circuit and had fallen from a height of approximately 10 metres in the area of Pas des Segarra.
Her hiking companions had called emergency services.
Firefighters, officers from the Spanish Civil Guard’s mountain rescue group and a helicopter were sent to the scene.
Her body was evacuated from the area and taken to nearby Inca for a post-mortem examination.
Several of the 12-strong hiking group – all foreigners of different nationalities – had witnessed the woman losing her balance and falling off the steep cliff.
They were reportedly left distressed by the incident.
