This mesmerising footage shows how a violent rainstorm unleashed its power on Barcelona.
The time-lapse video shows how an arcus cloud – or shelf cloud – rolls over the Collserola mountain range, which separates the city from the Valles plain.
The sky then darkens before heavy rains thunder down on the metropolis, obscuring nearly all visibility.
The footage was filmed by Projecte 4 Estacions (4 Seasons Project) – a non-profit organisation made up of meteorology enthusiasts.
Projecte 4 Estacions said on social media on 31st August: “It’s not Oklahoma but Barcelona!
“This is how the spectacular storm straight out of a book arrived. “Stunning.”
Last week’s storms across Spain’s north-eastern Catalonia region have wreaked havoc, with a 20-month-old girl killed by a hailstone in La Bisbal d’Emporda on 31st August and a 13-year-old boy critically injured by a falling branch in Vilanova del Cami on 1st September.
The adverse weather also damaged trees, cars and street furniture, as well as disrupting train services.
