Colombian Beauty Business Influencer Causes An Escobar Stir In Helicopter Stunt

A Colombian beauty business influencer, with a huge following in Spain caused a stir among netizens, comparing her to the drug lord Pablo Escobar, for throwing cash out of helicopter during a promotion stunt for her products.

Daneidy Barrera Rojas, better known as ‘Epa Colombia’, shared images of the stunt on Instagram where she commands an army of 4.5 million followers.

The businesswoman and influencer, who comes from the Colombian capital Bogota, first shared images of her arriving at the airfield in a luxury car before taking to the skies.

She posted one snap of her sitting on the car bonnet with the helicopter in the background with the message: “On days like today I asked myself, if I didn’t have social networks, what would my life be like? That’s why I decided to create a wonderful company because I knew that I could help thousands of families.”

As seen in the video, Daneidy then threw a wad of  banknotes out of the window of a helicopter flying over the municipality of Suesca in the Colombian department of Cundinamarca.

It is unclear why Daneidy, who runs the beauty company Keratina Epa Colombia, chose that location and the exact quantity of the money, consisting of COP 50,000 bills, she allegedly threw to the streets below.

Netizens had a lot to say about the ostentatious stunt, with many questioning how her influencing activities could allow her to throw away so much cash.

Other commentators compared her gesture to those carried out by some of the country’s infamous drug lords, such as Pablo Escobar.

One Instagram user said: “Epa Colombia throwing a wad of banknotes out of a helicopter in the style of Pablo Escobar, those keratin products must be valuable!”

Another netizen commented: “EPA Colombia throwing bundles of cash from a Pablo Escobar-style helicopter. Those keratins are kind of weird!”

Colombian actor Diego Trujillo, 61, asked: “Seriously, does selling keratin give you three convertible cars, a building, and now the chance to throw bundles of bills from a helicopter?”
