Teenager Arrested Over Atocha Train Stabbing

The Madrid Municipal Police have arrested a teenager acccused of stabbing a 32 year old man on a Madrid commuter train, yesterday, Sunday, 3rd October.

The incident happened on the the Cercanias C-2 train line as it was leaving Atocha mainline station to Segovia at around 4pm.

According to eye-witnesses the two men appeared to know each other and an argument ensued leading to the incident.

The commotion was reported to the driver who reversed the train back into the station.

The victim who was stabbed in the stomach, was treated by medics from the Madrid emergency Samur-Civil Protection service who were waiting as the train pulled in to Atocha.
He was stabilised in the carriage and transferred to Gregorio MaraƱon Hospital, where he was admitted with life threatening injuries.

The aggressor, a Spanish national of Latino origin, fled the scene but was captured nearby by police officers and also treated on the scene by Samur personnel before being transfered to Hospital 12 de Octubre Hospital , where his injuries were described as light.
The investigation continues.
