Young Boy Among Injured In Ibiza Ferry Accident

These shocking have been released showing an Ibiza ferry after its crashed when entering the port with 35 passengers on board and 11 crew members.

A 10-year-old boy is reportedly among the injured and this footage shows a rescue helicopter shining a spotlight on the stricken vessel at night.

The local coastguard shared images on social media, captioning the post: “Ferry San Gwann runs aground on Es Malvins islet with 35 passengers and 11 crew members.”

Local emergency services have since said that 25 people were injured, two seriously, including the 10-year-old boy.

The ferry, run by the German company FRS, normally operates between Formentera and Ibiza in the Balearic Islands.

The Spanish Coastguard has said that they airlifted nine injured passengers to hospital during the rescue operation, and the other people were rescued by boat.

The two seriously injured passengers were taken to San Espases Hospital on the nearby island of Majorca.

FRS released a statement after the accident saying that the route had been suspended due to the incident.

Francina Armengol, the Balearic Islands’ regional president, took to social media to thank the emergency services for their rescue efforts.
