Shocking Footage Of Barcelona Pharmacy Robbery Released
This is the moment blood sprays on the floor as a pharmacy worker is stabbed 18 times by a robber while bravely trying to detain him in a back room.
The suspect reportedly jabbed his knife over 30 times at the chemist, inflicting 18 stab wounds.
The incident was filmed in the neighbourhood of Montbau in the city of Barcelona in the north-eastern Spanish region of Catalonia at around 2.40pm on 27th August.
According to the news site Telecinco, the thief entered a local pharmacy wearing a motorcycle helmet and brandishing a knife before threatening staff and customers and demanding cash from the till.
The suspect insisted on seeing what was in the back room before leaving and when he took the pharmacy worker’s mobile phone from a desk, the man fought back.
In the CCTV footage, the chemist is seen attacking the thief, however, he fails to restrain his right hand and the suspect repeatedly jabs his knife into the man’s side.
As the pair continues to wrestle, blood splatters on the floor from the pharmacist’s stab wounds and he noticeably weakens.
However, he manages to knock the suspect’s motorbike helmet off and the man promptly flees the scene.
Local media said the thief jumped on his motorbike, parked outside the chemist’s, and left the crime scene.
According to reports, the pharmacy worker was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds, mainly to his arm, where he is still being treated. His condition is not serious.
The owner of a nearby kiosk told reporters: “It is a miracle he is still alive!”
The Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan police) have opened an investigation into the attempted robbery and assault that is still ongoing.
No arrests have been made yet as the police probe continues.
