Fears For British Hiker Esther Dingley As Remains Found
Fears are growing that human remains found in the Pyrenees may belong to British hiker Esther Dingley, who went missing in November.
The remains were found by a mountain runner, yesterday Friday 24th July, in the Port de la Glere area.
Spanish Civil Guard officers initially responded but had to alert their French counterparts s it was on their side of the border.
The French police chief, Jean Marc Bordinaro, is quoted as saying: ‘We cannot say anything at the moment because the discovery of the bones is too recent and they must be properly analysed.
‘We will not have a result for several days and possibly several weeks.’
Dingley was last seen on November 22nd.
She was expected to return from a mountain hike three days later but never returned.
LBT Global, a charity that helps families with relatives missing abroad, said on its Facebook page that it was “aware of the discovery of what MAY be human remains close to the last known location of Esther Dingley”.
“The family have been informed of the discovery and we are supporting them now,” it went on to state.
