English Teacher Arrested For Dark Net Child Porn Distribution
The Spanish National Police have arrested a British man in Benidorm charged with making and distributing child abuse recordings of naked children on the dark web.
The Spanish authorities were alerted to the existence of the man by a specialist Australian Police unit that investigates child pornography.
It is believed that the suspect made the videos by hacking into the home surveillance cameras of more than 70 families in the United States, UK, Canada and Brazil amongst others and then selling them.
The police say the man also worked as a babysitter and private tutor, under which cover he is also accused of sexually harassing nearly a dozen minors whom he filmed naked.
Spanish investigators were sent evidence of the mans videos and online presence by their counterparts in Australia, who had been monitoring the man and identified that the material had been uploaded in Spain.
Spanish police officers were able to track the mans activity to an address in Benidorm, where they continued to keep him under surveillance, until obtaining a court order to raid his home.
During the raid officers seized evidence of his online activities, including usernames and passwords, as well as sexual abuse images, hard drives,USB memory sticks, mobile phones and a laptop.
According to the police statement release earlier this week, the suspect also offered images in exchange for photos of abuse against children committed by his clients. He is also accused of acting as an intermediary between producers and child porn customers.
Police estimate that he made between €1,700 and €2,500 from his child porn network.
The suspect is presently in police custody as the Spanish authorities continue their investigation to uncover his clients living in Spain.
Earlier this month, police in Madrid, arrested a Briton working as an English teacher who was arrested on child pornography charges.
