Is Dubai Princess Latifa In Spain?
The mystery over the whereabouts of Princess Latifa deepened this week as she was supposedly spotted and photographed at Madrid´s Barajas Airport yesterday, Monday 21st June.
The princess who hasn’t been seen in public since she tried to flee Dubai in 2018 has been the subject of international speculation as to her status and if she is still held against her will by her father and ruler of Dubai, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The Madrid picture surfaced on Instagram allegedly showing Latifa in an airport, months after she appeared in a video saying that she was held against her will by her father.
The video caused an international outcry among human rights activists who have called for her release.
However the photograpgh of Sheikha Latifa, suggests that she has increasing level of freedom.
The photo posted on the social media platform is believed to show the 35-year-old princess with her English friend Sioned Taylor. The Madrid Terminal 4 is visible in the background.
“Great European holiday with Latifa. We are having fun exploring!” Taylor wrote by the photo in which both are wearing face masks.
Dubai authorities did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Last month, the same Instagram account published two photos purportedly showing Latifa in a restaurant and in a Dubai shopping mall.
The London-based ‘Free Latifa’ campaign said: “We are pleased to see Latifa seemingly having a passport, travelling and enjoying an increasing degree of freedom, these are very positive steps forward,” and that the “campaign team have been contacted directly by Latifa.”
There is no information as to whether the Princess was in transit to another country or staying in Madrid or other Spanish destination.
