Three teens aged between 14 and 17 have been arrested for gang-raping a 15-year-old girl who was tricked into a garage by someone she went to school with.
The incident took place in Ribera Alta in the Spanish province of Valencia on 16th January.
Local media said the victim, who has not been named, was tricked into a garage by a schoolmate who claimed he wanted to show her his new motorcycle.
However, the teen and two other friends then allegedly gang-raped the victim until a neighbour appeared at the garage and the teen was let go.
She told her parents about the alleged assault before reporting the three suspects, aged between 14 and 17, to the authorities.
The Spanish National Police detained the suspects and placed them in the custody of the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office in Valencia.
On 19th January, the authorities decided to keep the teens in custody at a closed centre, according to local reports.
The local newspaper El Independiente said there were conflicting accounts given by the three suspects under questioning.
The owner of the motorcycle claimed the 15-year-old had consensual sex with the other two boys while they deny ever being in the garage.
The investigation is ongoing. It is unclear how long authorities expect to keep the three suspects in custody.
