Reggaeton Singer Arrested After Fleeing From Madrid Assault Conviction

A Columbian reggaeton artist has been arrested by the police in Malaga after going on the run when he was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman in the Spanish capital in 2017.

The Spanish National Police detained the suspect, identified as German Felipe V.G., 32, artistically known as Jay Santos, in the municipality of Malaga in the autonomous community of Andalusia, according to a statement yesterday (3 January).

The reggaeton singer was wanted by the police after going on the run after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman, who has not been named, in the Spanish capital Madrid in November 2017.

Local media said the pair met on social media and made plans to get together leading to the assault at the singer’s residence.

German Felipe discontinued his work in music and fled the capital after getting word he was ordered to be arrested.

The police located his whereabouts after focusing their attention on his inner circle, leading them to a storage rental facility in Malaga. They found he was being helped by his mum, according to the daily newspaper ABC.

The time the singer was on the run and the sentence he is expected to serve were not reported.

German Felipe was born in the Colombian capital Bogota but moved to Spain when he was 17 years old to launch his music career.

One of his most successful songs is ‘Caliente’ (‘Hot’) which reached 32 in the Spanish charts.
