Spanish Kickboxing Champion Killed In Hunting Accident

A 19-year-old Spanish kickboxing champion has died after being shot in the stomach by a pal in a hunting accident.

Teenager Julian Lozano Pintado was shot while hunting with four friends near the town of Valdehornillos in the western Spanish province of Badajoz at the weekend.

One group member shot him in the stomach by accident, killing him immediately, according to the newspaper Hoy.

The Spanish Civil Guard is investigating the fatal shooting and has already interviewed the victim’s four friends. It is not mentioned if any of them have been arrested.

Lozano Pintado was well known in Badajoz for taking part in the European Kickboxing Championships along with his sister Rocio.

He was also the Spanish kickboxing champion in 2019.

The Spanish Kickboxing Federation has expressed its sadness over the teen’s death on social networks, posting during the national tournament taking place in Alovera in the Spanish province of Guadalajara.

Federation president Cristiano Gamero said: “Our support goes to the family and friends for this tragic loss.”

They also staged a minute of silence as a tribute.

The city council of Valdehornillos, where he was from, has ordered three days of official mourning for the teen’s death.

The investigation is ongoing.
