A two-year-old boy has died in hospital after falling in a private swimming pool and suffering a heart attack.
The incident took place in the district of Canada del Palmar in the municipality of Turre in the south-eastern Spanish province of Almeria on 28th October.
It has only been reported now, however, after the boy died.
The emergency services received a call at around 2.30 pm that a toddler had fallen into the private pool.
It is unclear how the boy ended up in the swimming pool and why he was apparently alone at the time.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and found the boy in cardiac arrest, however, they managed to reanimate the youngster.
The boy, whose name and nationality were not revealed, was taken to hospital by helicopter where doctors battled to keep him alive after putting him in intensive care.
Sadly, the toddler died one week after falling into the swimming pool.
