Jockey’s Cava Celebration With Winning Race Horse Upsets Animal Rights

This is the moment a Spanish jockey celebrates winning big with his  horse as they drink an entire bottle of sparkling wine after winning a big race as onlookers clap and cheer.

The incident was filmed at the Gran Premi de Manacor horse race, in the town of Manacor, located in Majorca, in the Spanish Balearic Islands.

However according to the Animal Association of the Balearic Islands (ASSAIB), the local jockey forced the winning horse to drink a bottle of cava after winning the race.

The horse was called Helen Llinaritx and the jockey was Miquel Mestre Suner, according to the news site Mallorcadiario.

ASSAIB spokeswoman Andrea told Newsflash: “Sadly, in the world of horseracing, the animals are badly abused.

“We have reported what these poor horses suffer to the local authorities on many occasions, but they always tell us they cannot do anything about it.”

She added: “One horse died in the middle of a race because it was drugged and fell down with its mouth foaming.”

Andrea told Newsflash: “Horses are not only drugged before competitions, they are mistreated in their stables too, as the video shows.”

She added: “In Majorca a few years ago, a jockey was jailed for the first time ever for mistreating a horse.”

Andrea said the jockey brutally beat the horse after the race because it did not win.

It is unclear if the local authorities are investigating the filmed incident.
