Man Pretends To Be Dog To Avoid Wearing Face Mask
This is the moment a man is filmed walking the streets on all fours pretending to be a dog as a way of avoiding wearing a face mask after police officers told him to put one on.
The bizarre scenes were recorded by onlookers in the town of Cangas de Onis, in the northern Spanish region of Asturias after the local police told two middle-aged men visiting the town to wear a face mask, as is mandatory in the area.
In the clip, one of the men can be seen crawling on all fours in front of the officers, pretending to be a dog as a way around the face mask regulations. At one point he even cocks his leg to imitate a dog urinating on the street.
Jose Manuel Gomez Castro, the Mayor of Cangas de Onis, told local newspaper El Comercio the man “said he was a dog and he did not want to put it [the face mask] on”.
The two men, who are reportedly from the Asturias region, were stopped by Spanish Civil Guard officers and taken to the local headquarters where they were identified.
They are reportedly facing a fine for public disorder and not wearing a face mask, believed to be around 600 EUR.
Mayor Castro told El Comercio that most residents and visitors in the town have been taking the coronavirus safety measures seriously.
According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University, Spain has registered 386,054 cases of COVID-19 and 28,838 related deaths.
