A British woman who did not know she was pregnant has given birth at her home on the Spanish island of Tenerife with the help of local cops.
The incident took place in the early hours of 2nd August in the town of Adeje in the south of Tenerife, the largest of the Spanish Canary Islands.
The young mum, whose name and age have not been disclosed, experienced strong abdominal pain while at home, according to local newspaper Canarias 24 horas.
The British woman was reportedly unaware that she was pregnant and was going into labour.
When National Police officers attended the emergency call, they found the mother already holding her newborn girl while still connected by the umbilical cord.
The police officers assisted the new mum while receiving instructions over the phone from a doctor and waiting for paramedics to arrive, according to Canarias 24 horas.
Local newspaper ABC said the paramedics arrived shortly afterwards and took care of the woman and newborn baby.
They were then both taken to hospital for medical checks.
ABC said that both mother and daughter are doing well.
