Dutch Toddler Drowns In Calpe Resort Pool

A four-year-old Dutch girl has tragically drowned in a swimming pool while on holiday with her family on the Spanish Costa Blanca.

The incident took place in the coastal town of Calp in the south-eastern Spanish province of Alicante in the eastern Spanish region of Valencia at around 1:45pm on 29th July.

Local newspaper Calp Digital said the family was spending their holiday in the Costa Blanca resort when tragedy struck.

According to the local newspaper Diario Informacion, the girl’s mother was taking care of her baby son when the girl, whose name has not been disclosed, managed to open the front door and walk outside.

The girl then went to the swimming pool and somehow fell in, reportedly drowning in the water.

The distraught mother called the emergency services and paramedics at the scene spent over half an hour trying to revive the young girl.

However, despite their best efforts, the four-year-old girl passed away, according to Diario Informacion.

Forensics experts were sent to the scene and the tot’s body was taken to a nearby morgue.

It is unclear if the local authorities are opening an investigation into the incident.
