A 26-year-old British man has been hospitalised in the tourist island of Majorca after falling from the third floor of a building in the island’s capital.
The incident took place on Vi de Palma Street in the city of Palma in the island of Majorca in the Spanish Balearic Islands at around 10.40pm on 27th July.
The man was injured in the city centre far from the Palma’s nightclub zone.
The Brit tourist, whose name has not been disclosed, was with his girlfriend when he fell from the third floor for as yet unknown reasons.
Local newspaper Cronica Balear said the 26-year-old man fell into an interior courtyard and had his fall cushioned by a large flower pot.
However, the tourist was unable to move on the ground afterwards and the emergency services arrived shortly afterwards to take him to a nearby hospital, according to Diario de Mallorca.
After being stabilised by paramedics on the scene, the Brit was transferred to the University Hospital Son Espases, the largest hospital in the Balearic Islands.
Paramedics also assisted the man’s girlfriend who reportedly suffered a serious anxiety attack following her partner’s fall.
The police have opened an investigation into the incident while local newspaper Diario de Mallorca said that preliminary investigations indicate a potential suicide attempt.
The investigation is ongoing.
A similar incident recently took place on the island of Ibiza when a 22-year-old man from Luxembourg fell from a height of two metres (6.6 feet) and was hospitalised. However, the young man was not seriously injured and was released shortly afterwards.
