This is the moment a young woman puts drops of tabasco sauce in her dog’s eyes leaving the poor animal frantically rubbing its little face in obvious pain.
The video has been reported to the police by the Spanish political party ‘Animalist Party Against Mistreatment of Animals’ (PACMA) after it was posted on social media by a user who was not named.
The user then deleted it when it was widely criticised, but it had already been copied and reshared.
The clip shows a young woman wiping a bottle of tabasco sauce over the dog’s face and getting some of the liquid in its eyes. It is then filmed as it rubs its face with its paws.
The footage is believed to have been filmed in Spain and PACMA has reported the incident to the Civil Guard and National Police, asking them to identify the woman and bring the dog into protection.
According to a PACMA press released obtained by Central European News (CEN), tabasco contains capsaicin, an active component of chili peppers that causes a burning sensation.
PACMA said that they are receiving an increasingly large number of images posted on social media by netizens who appear to be abusing their pets for ‘likes’ and ‘views’.
The political party asked residents to report any apparent animal-abuse clips to the authorities.
It is unclear whether the Spanish authorities are investigating the released footage.
