Police Bring Water To Abandoned Thirsty Pony During Lockdown
This is the moment a policeman brings water to a thirsty pony left abandoned and tied in a field by its owner during the lockdown in Spain.
The animal was reportedly abandoned in a field in the village of Zarcilla de Ramos in the municipality of Lorca in the province of Murcia in eastern Spain.
The footage shows the moment an agent of the Spanish Civil Guard brings water to the anima in a washing-up bowl and then pets it in a kind gesture.
The animal was reportedly left tied to a telephone post on a field without water or shade by its owner for several days.
The Spanish Civil Guard has reportedly identified the owner whose name has not been reported and fined him for animal abandonment and putting at risk its life.
Several animal organizations have complained about stray animals not been properly looked after during the lockdown for the COVID-19 pandemic that started in Spain on the 14th of March.
The Spanish animalist political party PACMA wrote on social media: “Several cats have spent more than five days without eating. Peacocks are jumping the fences. An alarming situation in parks and colonies. They are also Madrid. We need answers.”
