X Factor Ruth Wows Neighbours In Lockdown Concert
An X Factor Spanish singer who wowed the judges on the UK’s X-Factor performed ‘Purple Rain’ on her balcony for her neighbours during the coronavirus lockdown.
Ruth Lorenzo, 37, who finished fifth in the fifth season of the X Factor in 2008, cheered up her neighbours in the Eixample area of Barcelona in the eastern Spanish region of Catalonia during the coronavirus lockdown in Spain.
In the first video, she can be seen singing Prince’s iconic hit ‘Purple Rain’ on her balcony for all her neighbours to hear.
At one point she points the microphone for her neighbours to sing the chorus before saying “very good”.
At the end of her performance, residents can be heard whistling and applauding before she says “good night” to everyone. She shared the video with the message: “Music makes people come together” and tagged fellow singer Conchita Wurst saying “here you have! The purple rain cover I owed you. (sic)”
The day before she had performed Nessun Dorma, from the opera Turandot by Puccini for her neighbours, as can be seen in the second video.
She wrote on that video: “I went out to my balcony because I needed to sing. We will all get through this, together we are stronger and we will get back to the top.”
Netizens have thanked the singer for the concert such as ‘petitgirasol’ who said: “Like an angel falling from the sky, here you have me”.
And ‘fgarciacedeno’ added: “Thanks, Ruth. It has been wonderful listening to you and to share in a very simple and close way. You are great, very great”.
