17 Hurt As Angry Bull Jumps Into Stands At Spanish Event
This is the moment spectators flee in fear after a rampant bull jumped into the stands during a Spanish bull-running event and injured 17 people before escaping to the car park where it was shot dead by cops.
The incident was filmed during a ‘Correbous’ (‘Running of the Bulls’) event in the town of Vidreres in the province of Girona located in the north-eastern Spanish region of Catalonia and videos were shared online, with one clip viewed nearly 100,000 times.
The local authorities confirmed that 17 spectators were injured with one in a critical condition and another said to be in a serious but not in a life-threatening condition.
The two badly-injured festival-goers are being treated at the Hospital de Santa Caterina while the others were attended at the scene by paramedics, according to local media.
In the videos, the bull is seen jumping into the stands and charging at fleeing spectators as they scream in fear.
Reports said that the bull was eventually shot and killed by the police outside the bullring.
The animal rights group ‘Coordinator for the Abolition of the Correbous’ said on Twitter that they will launch legal proceedings against the local authorities while demanding an end to the controversial event.
It is currently unclear whether the Catalan authorities are investigating the incident.
