Cars Swept Away In Valencia & Alicante Storms

This footage shows cars being swept along Valencia’s flooded streets during the wind, rain and heavy storms that are currently battering the city and region.

In one clip, two cars are seen tumbling down an incline and bobbing along the flooded Bosquet Ravine in the municipality of Moixent in the eastern Spanish region of Valencia.

According to the local authorities, no one was in the cars at the time.

In another video, a city street is seen completely submerged after the nearby Clariano River burst its banks.

Reports said that 250 litres of water per square kilometre were recorded in a 24-hour period while winds reached speeds of 76 kph (47 mph).

The southern area of Valencia Province and all of Alicante Province have reportedly been placed on alert for storms today with more heavy rainfall expected.

Meanwhile, over 255,000 students in the region have been told not to attend class as all schools have been closed as a preventative measure.

Valencia’s Port de Sagunt has also been closed until further notice, according to the port authority.

Local media said that train services and road networks have also been disrupted by the adverse weather.

Fortunately, only two residents in the province have been reported as injured as more storms are said to be on their way.
