Magaluf Immigrant Vigilantes Attack Suspected Thief As Tourists Watch

This is the moment a group of have-a-go heroes take part in a mass brawl in the centre of Magaluf hours after the Senegalese community staged a protest against crime and one of the protesters allegedly saw a man stealing in the street.

The incident was filmed by residents and tourists enjoying a night out on Punta Ballena Street in Magaluf in the tourist island of Majorca located in the eastern Spanish region of the Balearic Islands and several videos were posted on social media.

According to local media, the brawl broke out hours after the Senegalese community staged a protest called ‘No Crime, Thieves Out’ in the Magaluf municipality.

Reports said that the community vocally rejected the illegal activities of some of their compatriots and spokesperson Abdou Lahad Niane told local media: “There are always bad people dirtying the good name of the community as a whole.”

He claimed that some Senegalese residents in the area are involved in drug smuggling and robberies, according to reports.

In the footage, dozens of young men appear to target one man on the busy street as a crowd of residents and tourists film with their phones.

After a brief pause, other men start fighting on the pavement and a large group is last seen chasing after someone down the street.

A source close to the matter told Central European News (CEN): “The violence happened when some of the protesters saw a man stealing and confronted him.”

However, police have not yet confirmed this.

A spokesperson for the Civil Guard told CEN: “The case is being investigated after we were made aware of the incident, because some injuries were reported.”

A spokesperson for Calvia City Council told CEN: “A group of Senegalese workers met with the mayor in order to discuss robberies and other crimes in the area.

“Afterwards around 50 people carried out a protest against rogue elements within their community.”
