Cruzcampo Testing Gazpacho Flavoured Beer
Spanish brewing giant Cruzcampo has created a beer that tastes like the chilled tomato soup gazpacho after an Instagram competition to find the best ‘summer taste’.
The beer was created in Cruzcampo’s brewery in the art district of Soho in the port city of Malaga in southern Spain’s Costa del Sol.
The drink is apparently a result of an Instagram contest searching for the ‘summer taste’ and was reportedly created by brewer Jorge Varela.
The ‘Gazpacho Beer’ flavour also known as ‘Cruzampacho’ came in second place with 34 percent of the votes after the peach-flavoured beer named ‘Fruity Ale’, which won 64 percent. Both can reportedly be tasted in the Cruzcampo brewery in Malaga until the end of the summer.
The beer with gazpacho taste has a reddish colour, medium bitterness and light body.
Reports state tomato, pepper and cucumber notes can be detected in the beer which has an alcoholic percentage of 4.8.
The gazpacho beer is said to pair well with starters, soft cheeses, Spanish omelette or fried anchovies.
Cruzcampo have reportedly developed a limited edition of 500 litres with the aim of testing the recipe among consumers in the city.
