This is the promising 15-year-old triathlete who has tragically died after she fell 65 feet off a cliff during training and suffered cardiac arrest.
The budding athlete, named in reports as Clara Martinez, from Madrid, has died after falling from a cliff in the La Val de Gallinera area of the Alicante region of Spain on 2nd May.
The 15-year-old, who belonged to the Diablillos de Rivas Vaciamadrid club, was reportedly jogging along the cliffs with a group when she fell 20 metres ( 65 feet) from one of the precipices.
She was treated by paramedics at the scene after suffering cardio-respiratory arrest, with the medics working to resuscitate her.
Martinez reportedly suffered multiple injuries and once she stabilised she was transferred by helicopter to Alicante General Hospital in a serious condition.
She remained in a serious condition in the hospital until her tragic death.
Diablillos de Rivas Vaciamadrid regretted her death on social media, writing: “Today Clara left us, we can only think about her family, her parents and siblings, our thoughts are with them.
“The Diablillos family with never forget you Clara. Rest in peace.”
Five-time ITU Triathlon World Championship winner Francisco Javier Gomez Noya wrote: “All my support goes out to Clara’s family, friends and to Diablillos de Rivas in such a tough moment. Sending a big hug.”
