Army Officer Who Killed Woman In BDSM Sex Game Jailed

The army officer who strangled a prostitute to death with a shower hose in a BDSM sex game gone wrong has been sentenced to 17 years in prison.

Spanish Army officer Feliz Daza Cabeza has been sentenced to 17 years and three months for killing Argentine prostitute Lorena Mazzeo in October 2016.

The jury of the court of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in the south-western Spanish region of the Canary Islands found that Cabeza had strangled Mazzeo to death with a shower hose in her home in Gran Canaria.

The army officer was also found guilty of stealing her belongings after killing her. Cabeza claimed he had killed the woman by accident as after having sex with her had gone to take a shower and she joined him.

He claimed that she had then encouraged him to participate in a sadomasochist sex game which ended in her death.

According to local media, the sex games consisted of wrapping a shower hose around her neck as he had sex with her as the water was running.

However, prosecutors read a statement from a witness claiming that weeks after the murder, Cabeza had said: “I killed her because I wanted. She was a whore and she was not going to laugh at me anymore.”

Cabeza was found to have taken Mazzeo’s body from the bedroom to the shower room when she was unconscious after sex before strangling her to death with the shower hose. It is not known why she unconscious after sex.

He then cut the wi-fi and telephone lines in the flat before taking the sheets, a mobile phone, a tabled and a set of keys from the flat.

Prosecutors said the words Cabeza used after the death showed that he had intended to kill Mazzeo, who he had reportedly hired as a prostitute, and so asked for a 21-year prison sentence.

The jury found that Mazzeo’s death “was not accidental nor the fruit of unintentional excessive force”.

The jury found it proved that Cabeza had contacted Mazzeo several times in 2016, contradicting his claims that the day of her death was the first time they had met.

He will have to pay the family 100,000 EUR (85,645 GBP) in compensation.

Isabel Olivera Bustamante, the mother of the victim, said to local media: “Nothing is fair, he has a sentence but he will be out soon. But my daughter has a sentence as she will never see a Christmas or a birthday again.

“My daughter lived alone, she was defenceless, and therefore he thought nobody was going to find her, but he did not know that we communicate with each other every day.”

Cabeza can appeal the sentence.
