Spanish King Refuses To Help Clean After Majorca Floods

The incident took place on Majorca in the Balearic Islands off the east
coast of Spain, which recently experienced heavy flooding that killed 12
people, including a British couple.

The King was visiting some of the worst hit areas with his wife Queen
Letizia where they praised the work of volunteers.

King Felipe congratulated them for the “capacity and solidarity of everyone
who gathered there to help”.

Afterwards, he can be seen shaking volunteers’ hands when one of the men
offered him a broom to help wit the clean up.

The volunteer, identified as Oscar Tarela, shared the video on social media
showing the moment he is seen shaking hands with the king.

He told local media “I offered the broom to King Felipe, but he said no, he
could not do that now.

“I went up to him to tell him that if he doesn’t help in one way, he can
help in another. The only thing I wanted to achieve was for him to help

“I offered him my broom because shaking hands, for me at least, doesn’t help
do anything.”
