Brit Tourist Dies After Nearly Drowning At Ibiza Hotel

A 28-year-old British tourist who went into cardiac arrest after nearly
drowning in a hotel swimming pool last week has died.

The young woman, whose name has not been revealed, was in critical condition
in the intensive care unit of the Can Misses Hospital after nearly drowning
at the Hotel Nautico Ebeso.

The incident took place in Figueretas on the Spanish holiday island of
Ibiza.

She had arrived at the hotel earlier that day with her partner, although
they had been staying at different accommodation and were due to leave later
that day.

According to local media, emergency services were called to the hotel at
around 6.42pm on 5th September.

The 28-year-old Brit was in cardiac arrest after nearly drowning in the
swimming pool.

Paramedics treated the woman on site and gave her CPR for a lengthy period
of time, managing to recover her spontaneous circulation.

The patient was then transferred to the hospital at around 9pm in “critical
condition” and sadly died two days later.

A total of 22 people have drowned in the Balearic Islands between 1st
January and 3st August this year, according to local media.

In July, a 19-year-old British holidaymaker drowned in a swimming pool
during a party at a rented villa near the resort of Playa d’en Bossa in
Ibiza.
